The official website of the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society
Founded in 1960, the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society is a nationwide socio-professional organization representing professionals working in ophthalmology. Over more than 65 years of development, the Society has become an important bridge between specialists, ophthalmologists, training institutions and research organizations, helping advance ophthalmology in Vietnam, improve eye-care quality and strengthen international integration.
ABOUT THE SOCIETY
Mission
The Vietnam Ophthalmology Society brings together professionals working in ophthalmology across the country to advance scientific research, education, knowledge transfer and innovation, while strengthening members' expertise, professional ethics and quality of practice.
Under the direction of the Party, the State and the health sector, the Society contributes to policy development, consultation, peer review and scientific assessment; expands international cooperation; and protects the lawful rights and interests of its members. It also shares eye-care knowledge with the community, improving visual health and working toward a Vietnam free from avoidable blindness.

The Society works toward a comprehensive Vietnamese ophthalmology community that is integrated regionally and globally, contributes to the advancement of Vietnam's healthcare sector, and helps ensure that everyone can access safe, modern and high-quality eye-care services.

More than 500 delegates attend conference on cataract, refractive surgery and ophthalmic management
The Vietnam Ophthalmology Society and the National Eye Hospital held the meeting in Hanoi on 25–26 September 2026, featuring 50 scientific presentations and international speakers.
In 2026, Orbis marks a significant milestone: 30 years of working alongside Vietnam’s ophthalmology sector (1996–2026). As part of the anniversary programme, Orbis is delivering specialist medical training and technology-transfer activities in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi.
